The hanged body of the Head of Statistics and Information Department of Daikundi was found in his home

Local sources from Daikundi told Tahawoul News that the body of Ali Jan Hussain Nejad, known as “Fakouri,” the Head of Statistics and Information Department of Daikundi, was found hanged in his home in the city of Nili this afternoon, Saturday, June 1.

A source who visited the scene told Tahawoul that Mr. Hussain Nejad’s body was found in a bent-over position, with his feet on the ground, hanging from a rope tied around his neck.

According to this eyewitness, a window from the room where the body was hanged was also open to the outside.

He added that the door of the house was locked from behind and the lights and television were on.

Another source, who had a close acquaintance with Mr. Hussain Nejad, told that Mr. Hussain Nejad had told him in a conversation that some members of the Taliban had tried to remove him from the Statistics Department last year. He said, “Last year, in a private conversation, Mr. Hussain Nejad told me that some Taliban members had used all their efforts to remove me from the Statistics and Information Department. They wrote to the central office several times and demanded my dismissal, but the central office replied that it would not be a problem to remove anyone else from the Statistics Department of Daikundi, but we need this man, and it is impossible to dismiss him.”

The source further emphasized that he had not heard any complaints from him regarding the Taliban recently.

According to the source, he was a sociable and lively person, and he had not seen any signs of distress or depression in him recently. He said, “I saw him just a few days ago, he was happy and lively. He was joking and laughing. Assuming he committed suicide is unbelievable.”

According to sources, Mr. Hossein Nejad had been living alone at home for some time, while his wife was on a pilgrimage abroad.

However, the cause of this incident is still unclear. We tried to inquire about the cause of the incident from the Taliban police command in Daikundi, but they did not respond to our repeated calls.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Hussain Nejad was the Head of the Statistics and Information Department for a long time before it was upgraded from a department to a directorate, and he also served as the acting head for a short period after the upgrade. He was currently serving as the Head of the Statistics and Information section of this directorate.
