The start of the first phase of Kankor without the presence of girls
The first phase of the 1403 nationwide Kankor exam began this morning, Tuesday, Jowza 17/June 6, in 15 provinces without the presence of girls.
In this phase, students from Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Kapisa, Panjshir, Logar, Nuristan, Kunar, Ghazni, Zabul, Paktia, Paktika, Samangan, Badghis, Ghor, and Herat provinces will take exams for entry into higher education.
This phase will continue from today until June 8.
Exams in other provinces, including the capital Kabul, will be completed in three other phases by July 6.
Given the decline in youth motivation for education, it is unclear how many students have registered to participate in this year’s Kankor exam. The National Examination Authority under Taliban management has also not released statistics on the number of exam applicants.
This is the third Kankor exam in Afghanistan held under Taliban management. Girls only participated in the first Kankor exam under Taliban management in 2022 but were not allowed to enter higher education. In last year’s exam and this year’s exam, girls were not allowed to participate in the Kankor exam.
