The “Afagh-e-Nawin” educational institution had replaced GRS in the provinces of Daykundi, Ghor, and Bamiyan after the Taliban banned foreign institutions. This institution was running dozens of English language education centers in these provinces.

On January 12, the branches of this educational institution in the Khedir and Sangtakht-Bandar districts were closed by a Taliban intelligence raid due to their education of girls and promotion of Christianity. The managers and several teachers were arrested and later released on bail.

For the same reason, on January 26, the educational centers of this institution in the Lal and Sarjangal districts of Ghor and on January 27, in Bamiyan were closed by the Taliban intelligence.

The Taliban have declared the education of girls in Afghanistan forbidden and are taking severe actions against institutions that do not comply with this ban.
