Taliban Flog Two Men in Ghor
The Taliban Supreme Court has announced that two men were publicly flogged in Pasaband district of Ghor province.
In a statement issued today (Monday, April 14), the court said the two men were publicly whipped on charges of “sodomy.”
According to the statement, each individual received 15 lashes and was also sentenced to imprisonment ranging from two days to one month.
The statement from the Taliban Supreme Court did not mention the identities of the individuals.
This is the second reported case in the past two days. Yesterday, the Taliban Supreme Court also flogged two other men in Faryab province in public, accusing them of transporting and selling alcohol and drugs.
Since returning to power in August 2021, the Taliban has intensified public punishments, including flogging and executions. So far, the group has executed 10 people and whipped hundreds of others daily across different parts of the country.
Human rights organizations consider such punishments a violation of fundamental human rights and have repeatedly called for their immediate cessation.
