The Taliban have flogged six people in Kapisa
The Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced that six individuals in Kapisa province have been sentenced to flogging and imprisonment on charges of “extramarital relations” and “sodomy.”
According to a statement from the court, which was published today, Tuesday, March 11, these individuals were sentenced in the second district of Kapisa province.
It was stated that among the accused, one woman and one man were punished for “extramarital relations,” while four other men were punished for “sodomy.”
The statement further adds that one accused person was sentenced to 10 months in prison, while another was sentenced to 8 months in prison along with 20 to 35 lashes.
Two other individuals were sentenced to two years in prison and 39 lashes each.
The remaining two individuals each received a one-year prison sentence and between 15 to 35 lashes.
The Taliban court emphasized that these sentences were issued in accordance with “Islamic Sharia law.”
Since their return to power, the Taliban, despite international criticism, have been carrying out public corporal punishments almost daily, a practice that human rights organizations describe as a violation of international law and human dignity.
