Report on the Murder of a Young Woman in Nangarhar Coinciding with International Women’s Day
On the eve of International Women’s Day (March 8), local sources in Nangarhar reported the murder of a young woman in the Goshta district of the province.
According to sources, a 28-year-old woman was hanged and killed by her husband on Friday, March 7, in the Mamakhil area of Goshta district.
Sources indicate that the woman had been forcibly married to her brother-in-law after the death of her first husband. It is reported that she had two young children from her first marriage, who have now been left without a guardian after her current husband fled the scene following the murder.
Local Taliban authorities in Goshta district have confirmed the incident, stating that the motive behind the killing remains unclear, but investigations are ongoing to shed light on the matter.
This incident comes at a time when the international community and women’s rights activists continue to condemn the systematic violation of women’s rights in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
