The Taliban have whipped six individuals in Khost and Faryab

The Taliban Supreme Court, in separate statements, announced the execution of public flogging on five men and one woman for charges such as “running away from home,” “abetting escape from home,” “sodomy,” and “murder” in Faryab and Khost provinces.

Today, on Tuesday, February 18, the court issued a statement saying that three individuals, including one woman, in Faryab province were each given 39 lashes in public for the charges of “running away from home,” “abetting escape from home,” and “sodomy.”

The statement further added that one of the accused was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, while two others received one year of “suspended” imprisonment.

Another statement from the court reported that in Khost province, three men in the “Bak” district were each given 39 lashes for charges of “sodomy” and “murder.” According to the court statement, one of these individuals was sentenced to five years in prison, while two others received one year of imprisonment.

Since the Taliban regained power in 2021, at least six people have been executed publicly, and hundreds have been flogged.

This comes at a time when international human rights organizations have repeatedly condemned corporal punishments, including public floggings and executions, as violations of international law and human dignity. Organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have called for an immediate halt to such actions.
