New Flood in Faryab; 66 Dead

Local Taliban authorities in Faryab reported that 66 people died due to renewed flooding on Saturday night.

 

Ismat Amiri, the spokesperson for the Taliban governor, stated that 68 people died as a result of the flooding on the night of May 18 in various parts of the province.

 

He told the media that last night’s flood in the districts of Pulcharagh, Chelgazy, Gorzwan, and Qaysar caused significant financial and human losses.

 

According to Amiri, 66 people were killed, five were injured, and eight are missing in the mentioned districts.

 

This comes after 18 people were killed in the province due to flooding on Friday, May 17.

 

The central province of Ghor also witnessed deadly floods on Friday, resulting in the death of at least fifty people.

 

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation have warned of heavy rains and flooding in the provinces of Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Panjshir, Nuristan, Kunar, Kapisa, Parwan, Maidan Wardak, Bamyan, Samangan, and Ghor for tomorrow, Monday, May 20.
