America will only lose if it stops fighting
But perhaps it’s better to start with a different number altogether: 145,000—say, 145,000 unsuspecting troops marching down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC. That’s the number of soldiers who marched down the same street in May 1865 – after the Confederate States of America had been defeated. Similar groups of gun-toting soldiers did the same in 1918 – after the First World War ended with the defeat of Germany and its allies. Also, Sherman tanks roll through the Manhattan Valley – which, of course, also followed the Allied victory over the Axis powers in 1945.
