World Youth Skills Day; EU: We support the empowerment of girls in Afghanistan
On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, the European Union Delegation in Kabul has announced that it stands with the youth of Afghanistan and continues to support skills training, entrepreneurship and the empowerment of women and girls in the country.
The EU, in a statement on its X account on Tuesday (July 14), wrote that by investing in sectors such as metalworking, weaving, tailoring and agriculture, it is trying to create job opportunities for young people, especially girls, and give them hope and motivation to build a future.
The EU Delegation emphasized that, in cooperation with its partners, it is providing education, employment and economic growth for women and girls in Afghanistan so that they can lead their communities towards a better future.
It is worth mentioning that World Youth Skills Day is celebrated annually on July 15 and has been named by the United Nations. The aim of this day is to emphasize the importance of technical and vocational education for youth around the world and to provide employment opportunities and empower women.
It is worth remembering that on this day, efforts and initiatives that help strengthen the skills of youth in various fields are appreciated and supported.
It should be noted that the Taliban group has banned women from working in government institutions and many non-governmental organizations for more than three years.
Following this ban, a number of women and girls have turned to domestic and skill-based jobs such as weaving, embroidery, confectionery, handicrafts, tailoring and private teaching without any support or appreciation; professions that have now become not only a source of income for many of them, but also a form of resistance and survival.
