
Ariana Said wins UN Human Rights Prize
The United Nations Human Rights Office has announced that on the occasion of the International Day of Hope, the song “We Believe in Hope” by Afghan singer Ariana Said has won the 2025 High Note Prize.
The United Nations Human Rights Organization said in a statement on Friday (July 10) that the song was honored for promoting concepts such as equality, unity and women’s empowerment.
According to the statement, the song was inspired by Afghanistan’s first girls’ robotics team.
The statement reads: “The inspiring song “We Believe in Hope,” composed by Jeff Beal, sung by Ariana Said, and written by Joan Beal, based on the true story of Afghanistan’s first girls’ robotics team, has been announced as the first song to receive the High Note Prize.”
Meanwhile, Ariana Said welcomed the selection of the song as the winner of the 2025 High Note Prize and dedicated the award to the girls of Afghanistan.
She added: “Music has always been my form of resistance; a carrier of the pain, strength and hope of millions of Afghan women and girls.”
Every year, July 12 is celebrated as the International Day of Hope.
Ariana Saeed has previously won international awards for her support of Afghan women and girls through the art of music.
