ISIS claimed responsibility for yesterday’s suicide attack in Kunduz

The group stated that the attack targeted a gathering of Taliban forces near Kabul Bank in Kunduz province, carried out by a suicide bomber from their group.

Amaq, the news agency affiliated with ISIS, claimed that hundreds of people, including Taliban security commanders, were killed in the attack.

On Tuesday morning, February 11, local sources reported an explosion near the Kabul Bank branch in Kunduz city, which was later confirmed to be a suicide attack.

Various reports on the casualties of this attack have been published. Jummauddin Khaksar, the spokesperson for the Taliban police in Kunduz, stated that five people were killed and seven others wounded in the attack. However, local sources reported that at least 18 people were killed and 14 others were injured, with most of the victims being members of the Taliban’s army and police forces.

This attack comes at a time when the Taliban, in response to international concerns about the presence of terrorist groups such as ISIS, has repeatedly dismissed these concerns as propaganda against them, denying the existence of ISIS in Afghanistan.
