
Two women and four men were flogged in Panjshir and Nangarhar
Two women and four men in Panjshir and Nangarhar were flogged by the Taliban. These individuals were tried for crimes of immoral relations and drug trafficking.
According to local sources in Panjshir, on Wednesday, January 29 (10th of Dalwa), a woman and a man were flogged for immoral relations, and a man was flogged for drug trafficking, based on a ruling from the appellate court at the central stadium of the province. The punishment was carried out in front of dozens of spectators.
Additionally, the Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced that two men and one woman were flogged for immoral relations in the Goshtunar district of Nangarhar province. The Supreme Court of the Taliban declared that this punishment was carried out on Monday, January 27 (8th of Dalwa), adding that the sentence was issued by the Taliban’s primary court and executed in public.
Since the Taliban’s return to power, the country’s sports stadiums have turned into places for corporal punishment and executions. International human rights organizations consider this type of punishment to be in violation of international laws and human dignity, and have repeatedly called for its cessation.
