Floods in Badakhshan claimed the lives of ten members of a family, while causing extensive damage in Baghlan

According to local Taliban authorities in Badakhshan, due to the flooding last Saturday night, five members of a family have lost their lives.

Zabihullah Amiri, the Taliban’s information and culture chief in Badakhshan, told the media that due to the flooding in the early hours of last Saturday night in the village of “Morchak” in the vicinity of Faizabad, the center of this province, a couple with their children have fallen victim to the flood.

Amiri further stated that so far, only the body of one member of this family has been found from the Kokcha River, while the remaining nine are still missing. He added that search operations for the remaining individuals, who are likely all deceased, are ongoing.

Meanwhile, local sources from flood-hit Baghlan province reported that residential houses and people’s farms have been destroyed in the Doshi district of this province due to the current flooding on Saturday evening.

Although statistics on the extent of the damage have not been released by relevant authorities so far, local sources have frequently highlighted the extent of the damages.

This comes as Baghlan province recently witnessed deadly floods, resulting in at least 315 casualties and hundreds of residential houses being destroyed in various parts of the province according to the latest figures.

Recently, more areas of Afghanistan, especially in the north, center, and west, have experienced deadly and devastating floods.
