Allahgull Mujahid, a former representative of the Afghan parliament, has been arrested.

Allahgull Mujahid, a well-known face and former representative of the Afghan parliament, was arrested on suspicion of murder by Taliban security forces in Kabul.

 

Khalid Zadran, spokesperson for the Taliban security forces in Kabul, announced in a post on X that this former member of the House of Representatives has been detained on charges of killing an individual named “Qari Saeedullah.”

 

In the post, he claimed that there is sufficient evidence against the accused and stated that the nature of the case necessitated restricting Mr. Mujahid’s freedom until the court’s jurisdiction is exercised.

 

Mr. Zadran did not clarify in the post when and how Mr. Mujahid was detained by this group.

 

Early on, when the Taliban came to power, a video of Mr. Mujahid’s arrest and beating by Taliban members spread widely on social media.

 

It is said that after the initial arrest, Mr. Mujahid fled to Turkey, and recently, upon the Taliban commission’s invitation, he returned to Kabul.
