Local sources in Jowzjan report the killing of two Taliban members in the center of this province.
According to these sources, individuals named “Ziyad al-Din” and “Mahmoud” were shot dead yesterday, Friday, 9th of May, around 7:30 PM local time by unidentified gunmen in the “Sakhi Abad” area.
Taliban security officials in Jowzjan, while confirming the killing of these individuals, have also stated that one of them was a civilian.
So far, the reason and motive for the killing of these individuals are unclear, and no individual or group has claimed responsibility.
Since the return of the Taliban’s rule, targeted killings attributed to unknown assailants have increased, and the perpetrators have not been identified by the interim Taliban government.
