175 Afghan Migrants Released from Pakistani Prisons Return Home

The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has announced that 175 Afghan migrants have been released from prisons in Pakistan and have returned to Afghanistan.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the individuals were freed on Saturday, April 18, and entered the country through the Spin Boldak border crossing.

The ministry stated that these migrants had been detained in various parts of Pakistan and were held for periods ranging from one to three days. Upon arrival, they were registered, provided with assistance, and then transported to their home provinces.

It is worth noting that Pakistan began a new wave of forced deportations of Afghan migrants at the start of this month. The Pakistani government had given undocumented Afghans and even those holding Afghan citizenship cards until March 31 to leave the country.

Additionally, reports indicate that Afghan migrants holding UNHCR cards are also being relocated from Islamabad and Rawalpindi to other cities, raising serious concerns among the Afghan refugee community.
