Border Clash Between Taliban and Pakistani Forces in Torkham; Three Journalists Injured

Local sources in the Torkham border region reported that three journalists from domestic media outlets were injured during clashes today (Wednesday, March 5) between Taliban forces and Pakistani border guards.

According to the sources, the journalists—affiliated with Shamshad TV, Pajhwok News Agency, and Radio Omid—sustained injuries due to mortar fire launched by Pakistani forces in the Torkham border area. Both Shamshad TV and Pajhwok News Agency confirmed their journalists’ injuries but have not released further details about their health conditions.

This clash marks the third skirmish between the two sides following Monday night’s violence. Local sources stated that both parties used light and heavy weapons during the fighting, raising concerns among residents about further escalation of hostilities.

These incidents occur as the Torkham border crossing, a vital trade and travel route between Afghanistan and Pakistan, remains closed for the 12th consecutive day due to ongoing tensions. The prolonged closure, exacerbated by recent border disputes, has severely impacted local livelihoods and cross-border trade.

Neither the Taliban nor Pakistani authorities have officially commented on the details of the clashes.
