
Shooting at UNAMA Office Leaves One Dead and One Injured
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has issued a statement reporting a shooting incident at its headquarters in Kabul, which resulted in one fatality and one injury.
The statement, obtained by Reuters, adds that the perpetrators of the shooting were Taliban guards, and an investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Abdul Matin Qane, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, confirmed the incident moments ago, stating that one Taliban fighter was killed and a UNAMA staff member was injured in the shooting.
Qane added that investigations are ongoing to clarify the cause of the incident.
UNAMA has not yet commented on the matter.
Some UNAMA staff members have reported that they have been instructed not to come to the office due to security concerns and to work remotely instead.
