Two former military personnel and the son of another former military member of the Republic government were arrested in Daykundi

Local sources from the districts of Shahrestan and Miramor report that two former soldiers of the previous government were arrested in Shahrestan, and the son of another former soldier of the previous government was detained in Miramor.

According to local sources, two brothers with a history of working in the security forces of the former government, named Mohammad Ali Toofan and Mohammad Amin, were arrested on Wednesday,January 29, in the village of “Kat-e-Sang” in Shahrestan district by Taliban intelligence forces. The sources state that the two former soldiers had been homebound since the Taliban’s takeover, and they were arrested while working with local people to repair a road between Shahrestan and Miramor.

Meanwhile, local sources from Miramor district in Daykundi province report that the son of the security chief of this district during the Republic government was arrested on Thursday, 30January, by Taliban intelligence in the “Chaprasak” market. According to the sources, Samad Shirzad was returning to Nilli after attending a seminar in Bamyan when he was stopped, taken off his vehicle, and arrested at the Chaprasak market.

According to the sources’ information, Samad Shirzad’s father, Ghulam Hussain Ebrahimi, migrated to Iran after the Taliban’s takeover and is currently living there.

It is said that Samad Shirzad was a student during the Republic government and had no military involvement.

So far, no details are available regarding their place of detention or the reason for their arrest. Taliban officials in Daikundi have not provided any clarification on this matter.

After regaining control of the country, the Taliban, despite announcing an amnesty, have been accused of killing, torturing, and arresting members and military personnel of the Republic government.

In cases where the targeted individuals were not available, Taliban forces, particularly their intelligence units, arrested the family members of those being pursued.
