Bennett Expresses Concern Over Forced Deportation of Afghan Refugees from Pakistan

Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Afghanistan, has expressed concern over the forced deportation of Afghan refugees by Pakistani police.

Mr. Bennett late yesterday, Tuesday, January 7th, in a post on the social media platform X, called for the protection of Afghan refugees and the cessation of their forced return, particularly those at risk.

This UN official emphasized that Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan deserve better treatment.

In recent days, Pakistani police have intensified the forced deportation of Afghan refugees. Some of these refugees have told the media that even women and children are being detained and deported by Pakistani police.

The Afghan embassy in Islamabad, which is under Taliban administration, also reported yesterday the detention of 800 Afghan refugees.
